Fragagnano in the province of Taranto: a small farming village of Albanian origin, among vineyards, olive groves and the traditions of the Ionian hinterland.
History
Fragagnano is a small town of the hinterland south-east of Taranto, also among the centres repopulated by the Albanian exiles in the fifteenth century and part of the so-called Tarantine Albania.
What to see
The town has a marked agricultural vocation: the territory is covered with vineyards and olive groves, and falls within the Primitivo production's area of influence.
The centre keeps the churches and the traditional layout of the area's rural villages, with the quiet, authentic atmosphere of the small Tarantine towns.
Fragagnano is well visited together with the nearby centres of the Primitivo Lands, such as Sava and Lizzano.
